When I was a kid in pottery class I made a mask almost exactly like this.
Not sure whatever happened to it.

There’s no shell script...

Mann’s advice can shade, occasionally, into Buddhist territory. “There’s no shell script, there’s no fancy pen, there’s no notebook or nap or Firefox extension or hack that’s gonna help you figure out why the fuck you’re here,” he tells me. “That’s on you. This makes me sound like one of those people who swindled the Beatles, but if you are having attention problems, the best way to deal with it is by admitting it and then saying, ‘From now on, I’m gonna be in the moment and more cognizant.’ I said not long ago, I think on Twitter—God, I quote myself a lot, what an asshole—that really all self-help is Buddhism with a service mark.

The moment is one of the most iconic in American gangster folklore.

Exactly 75 years ago today, at 9.15am on May 23, 1934, two small-time Depression-era bank robbers named Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow died on a lonely road outside Gibsland, Louisiana.

I'll always love you.

Artemis was one of the most widely venerated of the Ancient Greek deities and one of the oldest.[1] In Greek mythology of the classical period, Artemis (Greek: (nominative) Ἄρτεμις, (genitive) Ἀρτέμιδος) was often described as the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She was the Hellenic goddess of forests and hills, child birth, virginity, fertility, the hunt, and often was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows.[2] The deer and the cypress were sacred to her. In later Hellenistic times she even assumed the ancient role of Eileithyia in aiding childbirth.

Coiled Fur

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!

This is my favorite Akubi Zone find of the day:

Unfortunately, Count-M didn't cite the source. Any ideas?

In other Coiled Fur-related news, I'm drinking a Silver Needle tea from Mariage Frères, but I no longer have any of the specific details.
Fox on a Rock by *Nzeman
Lin Hai Pan Hao is processed using tea leaves that were harvested from Fu Ding Bai Hao tea plant variety, the same type used in making Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needle White tea). The name "Pan Hao" translates to "Coiled Fur". It is so called because the tea leaves are coiled into the shape of tiny pellets and are completely covered with white down.

Powered by Prayer

Om Mani Padme Hum by ~manunkind

Buddhist prayer wheels can be found outside the gates of monasteries in a number of Asian nations, most famously in Tibet. If you think about it, countless people spinning countless prayer wheels for over 1,500 years would have generated an incredible amount of electrical energy had the prayer wheels been crafted to produce and capture it.

Designer
Taikkun Li thought about the possibilities and is moving to put those thoughts into action with his Prayer Wheel Energy Generator.

At some Tibetan monasteries, a single person can walk down a long row of cylindrical wheels, putting each wheel into motion as they proceed. Says Li, "Now that positive energy can be harvested along Tibetan streets, turned into electricity, and used to provide evening lighting along those streets and inside the adjacent homes."

Akubi's Badger:
TanukiA Tanuki...?

Tanuki (狸 or タヌキ ?) is the Japanese word for the Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonides viverrinus). They have been part of Japanese folklore since ancient times. The legendary tanuki is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absent-minded.
Tanuki is often mistakenly translated as raccoon or badger.
