Cat's in the Cradle Video

via Kuato AKA Edgar AKA Buzzsaw.

The hot Safeway delivery guy who was another only child Californicated product of the free-for-all 70's said this song described his dad perfectly.
I remember my dad playing that song on an 8-Track in a pea green VW van and thought he must have felt that way about his dad too.
But my dad died "unexpectedly" during the first month of the 3rd grade. Since then, I spent a lot of time missing him and feeling sorry for myself, but at least I don’t have anything to hate about him (other than his last wife). It must be far worse to have a living parent who neglects or ignores you. Only children are generally far more sensitive than others IMHO.

At the Shore

My cousin took this photo of Akubi at the beach.
While Akubi looks a bit like a hedgehog, I thought the Flowy Factor™ would appreciate the flowing lines of the shore.

Electricity

When I was a kid on crappy cereal and T.V. I always felt sorry for Bill, but felt better when Electricity came on.

Od' und leer das Meer.

Od' und leer das Meer.
Define Irony?

Soothsayer
Beware the ides of March.

APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.

Ganga was sunken, and the limp leaves
Waited for rain, while the black clouds
Gathered far distant, over Himavant.
The jungle crouched, humped in silence.
Then spoke the thunder
D A
Datta: what have we given?
My friend, blood shaking my heart
The awful daring of a moment's surrender
Which an age of prudence can never retract
By this, and this only, we have existed
Which is not to be found in our obituaries
Or in memories draped by the beneficent spider
Or under seals broken by the lean solicitor
In our empty rooms
D A
Dayadhvam: I have heard the key
Turn in the door once and turn once only
We think of the key, each in his prison
Thinking of the key, each confirms a prison
Only at nightfall, aetherial rumours
Revive for a moment a broken Coriolanus
D A
Damyata: The boat responded
Gaily, to the hand expert with sail and oar
The sea was calm, your heart would have responded
Gaily, when invited, beating obedient
To controlling hands

I sat upon the shore
Fishing, with the arid plain behind me
Shall I at least set my lands in order?

London Bridge is falling down falling down falling down

Poi s'ascose nel foco che gli affina
Quando fiam ceu chelidon—O swallow swallow
Le Prince d'Aquitaine à la tour abolie
These fragments I have shored against my ruin
Why then Ile fit you. Hieronymo's mad againe.
Datta.
Dayadhvam.
Damyata

Put me in my Cage under the Lamp-stand

Dive 2 by *insanellamagirl via Violet Voice

The bird caught his fancy so much that he resolved to buy it. The lala remonstrated, reminding the youth that they had a more weighty affair on hand. The Prince, however, refused to listen, and finally purchased the bird for a thousand piasters, took it to his lodging, and hung up the cage in his room. Once when the Prince was alone and wondering by what means he could make the Princess speak, some what saddened by the gloomy reflection that failure meant death, he was startled to hear the nightingale thus address him: "Why so gloomy, my prince? What troubles you?" The Prince trembled, not being sure whether it was the bird or a spirit that spoke to him. Growing calmer, he thought that perhaps it was the manifestation of Allah's grace, and accordingly told the nightingale the story of his love for the Silent Princess, and that he was at his wits' end to think how he should get into her presence. The bird replied: "There is nothing to worry about. It is as easy as can be. Go this evening to the serai, and take me with you. The Sultana wears seven veils; no one has ever seen her face, and she sees no one. Put me in my cage under the lamp-stand, and ask the Sultana how she is. She will vouchsafe no answer, however. Then say that as she will not condescend to speak you will converse with the lamp-stand. So begin to speak, and I will reply."

TGIFF!
At least there was some good news today. I love dolphins and it's uplifting so I won't comment on the irony of the location.

The bubble writing reminds me of my high school yearbook. Couldn't stand it.
If you were Jonathan who would you choose?
Some things never change... I pretty much hated most people in high school and never told anyone I loved them (because I didn't). Of course, I had plenty of other things to say about them.

The novel is set in an allegedly dystopian alternate reality in which most nations (now controlled by the United States) are dominated by for-profit corporate entities while the Government's[1] Political power is extremely limited. Some readers consider it similar in satiric intent to George Orwell's 1984, but of a world with too little political power as opposed to too much. Consequently, some readers see the novel as a criticism of libertarianism. Many readers also see it as a criticism of globalization, although Barry claims he is not an anti-globalizationist.[2]

Pissed Off Geisha

bathing in gasoline

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!
How can this Bikini Machines girl look so miserable yet have a perfectly clean fireplace? WTF? I have a mountain of ash everywhere that I would photo and post if it weren't for concern that some typical Marinite would sue me for it (wasted so much time on stupid trials in jury duty around here). It is a well managed pile of ash that does not represent a risk to the special enlightened people of Marin.
BTW. don't forget to check out Katrin and Nadine over at Nuclear Tentacles!

Blogger ate my post update while I was distracted, but Wagga sent me a linky to this groovy site for depressed, Aspergers, IT cases who need a plan. Hopefully, they'll keep it updated...

Yes, I am well aware that the above relates to Japan and the below relates to Bowie/China. I miss my friend from Japan who would drag me to aging Bowie concerts where he didn't do much, but smoke cigarettes and wheeze. I hope she's doing OK these days.

She thought I looked like Bowie which made me consider a sex change except for my lack of height.
