I would like to encourage further massive focused action on the 6 degrees of Casey Serin to Bettie Page front

Casey-related News Flash! In case you missed it, check out Mursatron 5000: A Casey Serin Simulator!

However, there are a couple of amusing non-Casey blog entries worth mentioning.

6 Degrees of Casey Serin - Casey to Bettie Page

Hey Kids!

It’s Friday and time for another 6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ game!

Woohoo!!!

This week’s challenge is Casey to Bettie Page.

The clock is ticking so you better start hopping!

6 Degrees of Casey Serin
Bettie has a whip for Casey While we’re on the topic of games there has been some chat about writing a Casey Serin game over at Stephanie J’s place so she has reserved a SimCasey™ post for suggestions. And don’t forget to check out Saint Casius Serinicus while you’re there!

OT UPDATE: Sprezzie has honored me with the quote of the evening (thanks and I'm glad it was that one:)!). I want to keep 6 Degrees of Casey Serin to Bettie Page in the forefront of our massive focused action in this neck of the interwoods, but would be curious what others have to say about a spontaneous emergence of an unplanned online community.

Honest answers only please.

OT UPDATE: I found this amusing Future of Real Estate image over at Paleo-Future and had to share it.

Pay no attention to boobs, butt plugs, thongs, etc. on your screen

Global warming concern plug: if we can't fucking get our air conditioners to work properly how the hell are we to get this planet back in proper alignment - unless we start working that angle ASAP?

6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ - Casey to Success

Hey Kids!

It’s Friday and time for another 6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ game! In order to make this one super challenging, I am taking Flailing Forward’s suggestion: Casey to Success.

Woohoo! Win-win!

Casey Serin is 100% Successful!Partial Success, 75% Success and Strong Success entries will be immediately disqualified. Success as defined in this game is 100% success.

Brief Non-6 Degrees Update:
If you haven't already done so, I recommend perusing Kerriella's recent Casey-related post.

Be respectful of the 6 Degrees of Casey Serin Voting System

My patience with you guys gaming the 6 Degrees of Casey Serin voting system is running very, very low. Be respectful. Show some courtesy. And if it doesn’t work out too well or I have to do too much work to ban people and baby sit™ people like dumbfounded I may have to end the game entirely.

It now appears that Stephanie J. and Ogg the Caveman are tied again. Since they've been running neck and neck that makes since™ but out of the blue Dumbfounded took the lead and it seems he's done this before in the Chairman Mao game.
Guys,
I'm trying to keep it organic, but I may need to think about adding a poll closing date and a bunch of other stuff if you keep adding to my stress.

Jennifer Government Foray

If he hasn't already done so, I think it would be fun if our favorite CaseyoPod spent some time with Max Barry in Australia. It would be great material for his next novel......

BTW, where's my biggest fan who I secretly lust after to take his prize (I promise it won't involve butt plugs)?

UPDATE: this Groovy Age post somehow reminds me of the Caseyopod creature.

Akubi and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Breaking News UPDATE! It now appears Ogg is the winner!

When I reached for my breakfast cereal box, all I found was a black eye. I think I might have a brain tumor and should live in an Igloo.

Now that the migraine medication has finally taken some effect after yesterday’s noxious neuron killing gas experience, I’m in need of some distraction so I shall follow up on the latest news in 6 Degrees of Casey Serin.
Murst, it appears that Stephanie J. and Ogg are this week’s 6 Degrees of Casey Serin and Tony the Tiger winners. SWEET! Win-win!

Second, despite all of my efforts, I am anything but Murst! On a “6 Degrees of Casey Serin” Google search. Flailing Forward (still enjoyed koincidental, though) stole my glory so I shall include these mighty mouse links to remedy the situation.

Six Degrees of Casey Serin

In other blog news, I’m upset about The Death of ToM, the only Wired blog worth reading.

Also, for those proclaiming undying lust for me, please prove it by sending me one of these films (not to mention the latest Paul Auster novel) ;). While I thought I had seen everything, this guy proves there are some intriguing vintage films I haven’t.

Oh, one other thing : I hope Aspeth gets well soon so I can (selfishly) hear about her foray in Bollywood.

Don't forget to vote for this week's 6 Degrees of Casey Serin win-win winner!

Vote on the 6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ to Tony the Tiger Winner!

We all know who the lose-looser is, but now it’s time to vote for the win-win winner! There were so many SWEET 6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ entries this week this will be quite a difficult decision.

A giant octopus living way down deep at the bottom of the ocean

While I was reading this passage in Murakami’s latest novel, After Dark, I was reminded of OCTOPULPS and the related Octopia Blog

“So once I started having thoughts like this, everything began looking different to me. To my eyes, this system I was observing, this ‘trial’ thing itself, began to take on the appearance of some special, weird creature.”
“Weird creature?”
“Like, say, an octopus. A giant octopus living way down deep at the bottom of the ocean. It has this tremendously powerful life force, a bunch of long, undulating legs, and it's heading somewhere, moving through the darkness of the ocean. I'm sitting here listening to these trials, and all I can see in my head is this creature. It takes on all kinds of different shapes--sometimes it's "the nation," and sometimes it's "the law," and sometimes it takes on shapes that are more difficult and dangerous than that . . . and this creature, this thing doesn't give a damn that I'm me or you're you. In its presence, all human beings lose their names and their faces. We all turn into signs, into numbers.”

BTW, if you haven’t submitted your 6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ to Tony the Tiger entry, the voting will soon begin, so hurry up!

Not Impressed AKA My Favorite Picture of Myself

UPDATE from the NYT:

But the study found that when people invested more in intrinsic values, like relationships and quality of life, and less in consumption, it seemed to increase their happiness. And, the study suggested, there may be a financial gain to doing so.

Guess what Casey Serin...You are a f-ing asshole

Also, F-you KC for not posting my comments. I've been one of your most tolerant Haterz/critics, but I'm really beginning to lose my patience with your BS (AKA how you've treated your wife).

Breakfast of Champions

If I hadn't been out swimming with dogs in someone else's award winning pool (definitely NOT Nigel's), I may have caught this gem sooner...
SWEET!

OK, Back to Fliptard Stuff...

First, Props to Aspeth for yet another excellent post on her blog, Marty Stewart, Crybaby.

Murst, I really enjoyed MursesToMurgatroid's hilarious artwork on the right and didn't want it lost to posterity in the EN comment chaos.

Third, as previously mentioned on Stephanie J's blog, it would seem she's the obvious choice for the Official Haterz™Con event director. Given the fact that Haterz are spread all over the planet, it would be wise to lessen her burden by having local chapter coordinators. Do you really want to volunteer? If so, let us know and we'll have a vote if necessary.

BREAKING NEWS: Froot Loops’ days on Saturday morning television may be numbered!

It's the end of an era!
According to the New York Times:
Froot Loops’ days on Saturday morning television may be numbered...

Kellogg also announced that it would stop using licensed characters or branded toys to promote foods unless the products meet the nutrition guidelines.

The voluntary changes, which will be put in place over the next year and a half, will apply to about half of the products that Kellogg currently markets to children worldwide, including Froot Loops and Apple Jacks cereals and Pop-Tarts...

At breakfast Anthony found a Corvette Sting Ray car kit in his breakfast cereal box and Nick found a Junior Undercover Agent code ring in his breakfast cereal box but in my breakfast cereal box all I found was breakfast cereal.

In other news, check out this Japanese Poop Vending Machine.

B-Day Wish List: DAY-DREAM (TETSUJI TAKECHI, 1964) & Travels in the Scriptorium (Paul Auster)

BTW, I think this blog is pretty sweet.
OT UPDATE
Here's another interesting blog post I intended to feature last week: Designing for Informavores, or, Why Users Behave Like Animals Online

Thermal Discomfort

UPDATE: Dysfunctional climate control systems really annoy me. For a couple of hours, I had a very pleasant respite swimming with my dogs at some friends’ house…Until I came home to the lame-ass PoS condo association who stole my parking space because I was too young and dumb and car-averse to think about it before closing the deal a couple years ago. Eventually I want to move to Wyoming or Iceland or Japan or Antarctica or something and this BS parking situation really ruins the resale value of my place --- and I’m ready to go for the jugular MoFo PoS douche bags. I’m real f-ing mad.

As previously mentioned in the comments, the air conditioner at the office is broken and it is currently over 85 degrees F with no ventilation whatsoever. Since I'm too grumpy and hot to accomplish any work, I thought I'd complain about the situation in my own official blogosphere.
When I Googled my office temperature concerns I came across this:
In general, what temperature is 'right' for various activities?

Table 3
Temperature
°F°C
7825Optimal for bathing, showering. Sleep is disturbed
7524People feel warm, lethargic and sleepy. Optimal for unclothed people.
7222Most comfortable year-round indoor temperature for sedentary people.
7021Optimum for performance of mental work.
6418Physically inactive people begin to shiver. Active people are comfortable.

Given the fact that I am clothed and presumably perform "mental work", 85 degrees is simply unacceptable. Can someone please explain why office air conditioners never work when they are needed, but are always on when they’re not? If we can't even manage office climate control, how the hell are we going to deal with global warming?
Speaking of climate control, I would like to return to Paleo-Future's "home of the future" where "electrically operated climate-conditioned extensions will permit 'summer terraces' all at will by your electricity." I just love the image.

And the 6 Degrees of Casey Serin to Scooter Libby Winner is....

6 Degrees of Casey Serin Win-Win Winner!FLAILING FORWARD!!!
WooHoo!
Here is the kombucha award-winning entry:
1. In 1996 Libby published a novel entitled The Apprentice. It concerns a group of travelers stranded in northern Japan in the winter of 1903 during a smallpox epidemic. After Libby's grand jury indictment, his publisher (St. Martin's Press [Griffin]) reprinted the novel, described as "an everyday tale of bestiality and paedophilia in 1903 Japan...[and] packed with sexual perversion, dwelling on prepubescent girls and their training as prostitutes": "One passage describes a girl being thrown into a cage 'with a bear trained to couple with young girls so the girls would be frigid and not fall in love with their patrons....They fed her through the bars and aroused the bear with a stick when it seemed to lose interest. Groups of men paid to watch.'" (from wikipedia)
2. Casey Serin also has a publishing deal for a book that no one will ever want to read.

Bizarre Blog Post of the Day: Pentagon Rejects Gay Bomb Technology

..."Gentlemen," he drawls, "I have two words for you. GAY BOMB. I envision our enemies paralyzed before our amassed armies in a reverie of homoerotic butt humping." Resounding applause.

A Berkeley watchdog organization that tracks military spending said it uncovered a strange U.S. military proposal to create a hormone bomb that could purportedly turn enemy soldiers into homosexuals and make them more interested in sex than fighting.

Vote on the 6 Degrees of Casey Serin™ to Scooter Libby Win-Win Winner

Given the Casey heads to Australia excitement we'll keep the polls open and organic longer than usual.

I think I'll move to Australia.

After Alexander discovers that all he has in his breakfast cereal box is breakfast cereal...

Casey Serin's favorite book? Given the latest developments Duane LeGate reports at EN, I wonder whether Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was Casey's favorite childhood book...

In hopes of moving Scooter Libby's face somewhere easily avoidable, I'd like to return to juicy blog nuggets of the day.
