Biding my time biting my mouth

Bite Til It Bleeds by *PeppermintStripe

Warning this is a boring post for no purpose other than to vent about biting my mouth today.

That's about how my mouth looks at the moment, but I'm not wearing lipstick - just blood. I bit my right cheek during lunch and it bled and continued to swell to the point that I keep biting on the same fucking place over and over again (jaw clenching/teeth grinding problem) and it is driving me fucking crazy. I keep washing my mouth with Listerene and spitting up blood to the alarm of my dogs.
Maybe I should take a Rozerem and go to sleep with an ice pack before doing further harm.

Feelin' Nietzsche

I find the mix of politics and religion these days highly offensive and un-American (whatever the fuck that was in the first place).

Beyond Koi

UPDATE! More Toilet angst can be found at Edgar's Toilet.

Haiku for the koi by ~shadowcatv10

Japan is famous for its beautiful ponds stocked with colorful "Koi" carp - a close relative of the common goldfish. Some breeders are now moving beyond Koi to create even more unusual types of goldfish including scaleless, pearlescent varieties!

U.S. Troops in Iraq Shooting Dogs and Cars

Edgar's link led me to this video of U.S troops in Iraq shooting a dog in the butt. There's something so sad and compelling about the Iraqi man leaning over his dog in the end.

Watching the man sobbing next to his dog I wonder if it was the last straw in a dismal life in Iraq. Perhaps I’m projecting and making assumptions. Does anyone know how this story ends?

They find that pathetic dog funny - and killing it just as entertaining? WTF?! I hate the Bush Admin and their F-ed up war I didn't vote for.

UPDATE! Edgar's Hanukkah post brought to mind some cute pictures of my boys, but I still can't find the Tanuki photo I had in mind.

Arrested Dogs and $150,000 Dogs

UPDATE: Speaking of dogs, I'd sure like a cute coyote puppy like Charlie. How many domesticated dogs get along so well with a cat? In addition, his mom is a good photographer.

While Iranian authorities have been cracking down on dog owners and arresting their dogs Ahmadinejad's security staff purchased four dogs from Germany for about $150,000 each.

Clearly, these dogs are not meant to live in the conditions they are being kept, but, anyways, they do not treat human beings anything better. Kamangir

In September a young Iranian who was searching for his lost puppy in Tehran was arrested and ordered to stand trial for ‘moral corruption'.
"Looking for a lost dog indicates the spread of a corrupt culture, which indirectly popularises keeping a dog at home, something that is completely foreign to the culture and Isamic tradition," said Tehran police spokesman, Mehdi Ahmadi.

Apparently my dogs wouldn't last long in Iran: Short-legged dogs are viewed with particular suspicion as if they were political dissidents.

General Ne Win banned banknotes that were not divisible by nine

DON'T FORGET BURMA by ~Morphine101

In September 1987, the superstitious General Ne Win who headed the military junta in Burma (renamed Myanmar soon thereafter) banned all high value banknotes that were not divisible by nine. People in a country blighted by years of the junta’s despotism and economic mismanagement lost their savings overnight. This triggered Burma’s first massive uprising, with its indelible image of saffron and red clad monks marching with overturned bowls—a refusal to take alms from the junta or its soldiers amounted to excommunication. On Sept. 18, 1988, the army opened gunfire on a crowd of tens of thousands of protestors in Rangoon (now Yangon), and trucked away hundreds more whose fate remains unknown. It is estimated that more than 3,000 Burmese were killed that black September.
The Failed Saffron Revolution

WTF?

According to Wikipedia...
In 1963 Ne Win issued a decree that 50 and 100 kyat notes would cease to be legal tender giving the reasons that they were subject to hoarding by blackmarketeers and also financing of the various insurgencies. Limited compensation was offered but not universally taken up, and people's life savings were wiped out overnight. At least one insurgency, that of the ethnic Kayan, was triggered by this act. 'Demonetization' again occurred in 1987, this time affecting the 75 kyat notes which fuelled the simmering discontent that came to a head in 1988.
Ne Win was also noted for his interest in
numerology. In September 1987 he ordered the Burmese currency, the kyat, to be issued in denominations of 15, 35, 45, 75 and 90 kyats, besides the existing 5 and 10 kyat notes. He reportedly changed the currency to add up to nine because an astrologer said he would live to 90 if he did this. Ne Win was also well known for his penchant for yadaya - cabalistic rituals and spells performed in order to ward off misfortune
