Arrested Dogs and $150,000 Dogs

UPDATE: Speaking of dogs, I'd sure like a cute coyote puppy like Charlie. How many domesticated dogs get along so well with a cat? In addition, his mom is a good photographer.

While Iranian authorities have been cracking down on dog owners and arresting their dogs Ahmadinejad's security staff purchased four dogs from Germany for about $150,000 each.

Clearly, these dogs are not meant to live in the conditions they are being kept, but, anyways, they do not treat human beings anything better. Kamangir

In September a young Iranian who was searching for his lost puppy in Tehran was arrested and ordered to stand trial for ‘moral corruption'.
"Looking for a lost dog indicates the spread of a corrupt culture, which indirectly popularises keeping a dog at home, something that is completely foreign to the culture and Isamic tradition," said Tehran police spokesman, Mehdi Ahmadi.

Apparently my dogs wouldn't last long in Iran: Short-legged dogs are viewed with particular suspicion as if they were political dissidents.

I wonder if they have similar restrictions on catz.

@Ogg,
Apparently, they don't: Cats, renowned for their cleanliness, can, however, roam the country unpersecuted.

Clearly, they have never had a cat climb on them after getting its pawz good and wet and then visiting the litter box.

@Ogg,
Well, overall I'd say my cat is a lot less messy than my dogs.

How many dogs were killed by Bush's war on terra?

@Edgar,
I always assumed it was war on Tara.
Anyway, we don't have reliable stats for the number of Iraqi humans killed, how could we know how many dogs?
Apparently, Moslems aren't too keen on dogs so I doubt it's nearly as many as the human toll.
P.S. Check out the coyote update to this post.

I know this dog didn't fare so well at the hands of sadistic US troops. Warning: Shocking footage

Nor did this one. Given how quick they are to shoot dogs, it makes one wonder how they do the same with people.

It's particularly sad because the dogs owner appears to be in tears at the end. I doubt they have decent vet care in Iraq. I'm not sure what it's from but I'd be interested in hearing the rest of the story. Apparently, the guy who shot the dog was a Dr. Seeing that poor guy in tears while he was leaning over his wounded dog, I hope he at least offered to provide some treatment.
