My digital cable remote died. While slightly annoyed I'm revisiting the whole concept of paying a shitload of $ for cable TV. For the most part, it doesn't do much for me. Until 9/11 I was anti-TV, but that was pre-Web 2.0 when you couldn't see shit happening live online.
When the first tower was hit, a friend called me unusually early in the morning and suggested I turn on my TV. Well, my f-ing TV didn't do anything but DVD's. I was so pissed. I can't even get NPR around here without interference.
Anyway, I think I'll cancel cable TV.
It's hard to imagine you without PBS. Still, I've been contemplating the same lately. Of course, I have my own reasons for disliking the cable company. Still, I've been half-watching TV all afternoon while doing housework.
I've given it up in the past, but ended up getting it again because there were just enough shows that I really wanted to watch. In every area I've lived in lately, not having cable means not getting TV at all. Still, I sometimes wonder if I'd be better off with a combination of Netflix and internet video.
If there are only a few channels that you actually watch, you might look for a cheaper cable package that still gives you those.
