Happy Weird Fishnet Friday!

You Must Be Weird Or You Wouldn't Be Here!

After seeing this Like...Dreamsville post tumbling about on Tumblr lately, I was reminded that I had intended to post it somewhere, but must have been distracted by all of the fishnets.

[MP3] City Center - Open/House

More NSFW Hot Ass in Fishies can be found here.

John Nefastis - A scientist obsessed with perpetual motion. He has tried to invent a type of Maxwell's demon, in an attempt to create a perpetual motion machine. Oedipa visits him to see the machine after learning about him from Stanley Koteks.
Stanley Koteks - An employee of
Yoyodyne Corporation, Oedipa meets him when she wanders into his office while touring the plant. He knows something about the Trystero, but he refuses to say what he knows.
Randolph Driblette - The director of the production of Wharfinger's The Courier's Tragedy seen by Oedipa and Metzger. Driblette is a leading Wharfinger scholar, but he commits suicide before Oedipa can extract any useful information from him about Wharfinger's mention of the Tristero. Oedipa's meeting with Randolph after the play, however, sparks her to go on a quest to find the meaning behind Trystero.
Mike Fallopian - Oedipa and Metzger meet Mike Fallopian in The Scope, a bar frequented by Yoyodyne employees. He tells them about The
Peter Pinguid Society. Oedipa searches him out again later.
Genghis Cohen - The most eminent
philatelist in the LA area, Cohen was hired to inventory and appraise the deceased's stamp collection. Oedipa and he discuss stamps and forgeries.
Professor Bortz - Formerly of Berkeley, now teaching at San Narciso, Bortz wrote the editor's preface in a version of Wharfinger's works. Oedipa tracks him down to learn more about Trystero.
...
After being defeated by Thurn und Taxis in the 1700s, the Tristero organization goes underground and continues to exist, with its mailboxes in the least suspected places, often appearing under their slogan W.A.S.T.E., an acronym for We Await Silent Tristero's Empire, and also a smart way of hiding their post-boxes disguised as regular waste-bins. In the plot of the novel, the existence and plans of the shadowy organization are revealed bit by bit, or, then again, it is possible that the Tristero does not exist at all. The novel's main character, Oedipa Maas, is buffeted back and forth between believing and not believing in them, without ever finding firm proof either way. The Tristero may be a conspiracy, it may be a practical joke, or it may simply be that Oedipa is hallucinating all the arcane references to the underground network, that she seems to be discovering on bus windows, toilet walls, et cetera.

Andy Warhol, Debbie Harry and an Amiga

Yet another link I saved and nearly forgot about:
SuperTouch:
Long before there were Steve Job’s flashy Mac World technology summits, prehistoric computer rival AMIGA staged a 1985 publicity event in which ANDY WARHOL created his first computer-generated portrait using a then wildly-futuristic digital camera and the Amiga’s pioneering graphic filters. Fittingly, the portrait subject was DEBBIE HARRY and the results weren’t too far off from his off-register silkscreen prints. From the looks of things, Andy was pretty satisfied with the results. In the end, however, Apple won the space race, as Andy never made the Amiga logo into an art piece…

we love you Debbie Harry!!

Friedrich was born in the Swedish Pomeranian town of Greifswald, where he began his studies in art as a youth. Later, he studied in Copenhagen until 1798, before settling in Dresden. Friedrich's work brought him renown early in his career, and contemporaries such as the French sculptor David d'Angers (1788–1856) spoke of him as a man who had discovered "the tragedy of landscape". However, his work fell from favour during his later years, and he died in obscurity. By the 1920s his paintings had been discovered by the Expressionists, and in the 1930s and early 1940s Surrealists and Existentialists frequently drew ideas from his work.

Promising new site that seems to be having technical issues (unless it's VistShit).

Groovy New Arty Blog Find

Nick Knight

In my internet wanderings I discovered Cgunit.net today, i.e. "Daily drugs for artsy people". Nice aesthetic choices.

Clayton Cubitt.

I know I should be more mature about such things, but I was I kind of disturbed by My Beautiful Cervix when I discovered it earlier today - and I'm not easily put off by visual imagery. Worrying that my coworker may have seen a big bloody cervix on my screen may have added to my anxiety. It appears that they're now having bandwidth issues now. Who knew cervix porn could be so popular?

Hmm, now I want to try this on my dogs:
Unfortunately, I suspect Akubi might do the same thing.

Salmonella Men on Planet Porno

Over brunch I came across a review of Salmonella Men on Planet Porno and I could not believe I was unaware of Tsutsui – especially if the stories were written in the 1970’s!
K, maybe the fact that he has just recently been translated to English has something to do with.

In the Kafkaesque "Rumours About Me," an ordinary office worker finds himself the subject of 24/7 media coverage, his face on every screen and in every morning paper, his every act streamed on the airwaves. Is someone playing a practical joke? Is it a conspiracy to drive him mad? Is he mad? As the protagonist's sedative-gulping doctor explains, "If your environment is abnormal, then you must be abnormal too. ... If you persist in asserting your own sanity, it proves, conversely, that your environment is in fact normal but that you alone are abnormal. If you consider your environment to be abnormal, then by all means lose your mind!"

Oh, BTW, I may have a sweet porn opportunity (connection), but can't imagine leaving my Kafkaesque life behind.

Hello Kitty ATM and such

However, this particular pussy repository apparently has very tight restrictions; with well-timed withdrawals the preferred procedure, and deposits almost definitely deemed out of the question
BREAKING NEWS UPDATE via Wagga with the following comment: "this bloke making a deposit? - or peeing on it"
Considered posting it on Edgar's Toilet, but I think the HK ATM juxtaposition is more appropriate.

Monkey Gone to Heaven

When I was a kid I would get anxious, comforted or nonplussed by certain numbers. Some primes particularly scared me, i.e. 13, 23 and 43. Other than the number 3 or 36 I wasn’t all that comfortable with anything involving a 3. Now, I can’t explain how I developed these weird superstitions. Perhaps some of it was absorbed from TV or something. I felt 777 was a good number that bodes well. Lou’s 3 monkeys post combined with the Dow reminds me of a classic I’ve posted here before.

If God is 7 maybe He will save us?
Sherman McCoy (NSFW) doesn’t seem to think so.
I had a Kaluha. And I realized that I… like you, my friends… don’t need no fudge-factor first-order-approximation God no more. He is no use to us. Let us take one step towards the Übermensch and not invoke such silliness in our thoughts any more.

There was a guy
An underwater guy who controlled the sea
Got killed by ten million pounds of sludge
From New York and New Jersey

This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven

The creature in the sky
Got sucked in a hole now
There's a hole in the sky
And the ground's not cold
And if the ground's not cold
Everything is going to burn
We'll all take turns
I'll get mine, too

This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven

Rock me, Joe!

If man is 5
If man is 5
If man is 5

Then the devil is 6
Then the devil is 6
Then the devil is 6
Then the devil is 6

And if the devil is 6
Then God is 7
And God is 7
And God is 7

This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven

Something Fishy for Fishnet Friday

Bazongas. by ~ehenders

Another hat tip to Wagga for this one:
A Japanese council employee has set what is likely to remain an unbreakable record for surfing porn at work, after visiting an impressive 750,000 smut websites in just nine months at the rate of 20 pages for each minute he was sat at his desk.
According to the BBC, the unnamed 57-year-old "works" for the city of Kinokawa in southern Japan. During his web pornathon, he clocked up an average of 10,000 grumble pages a day, something that went unnoticed because "each employee's desk was set apart from the others", as a council official put it.
This superb effort was only discovered when his computer caught a nasty case of the clap - a virus which prompted the powers that be to peruse his browser history. They discovered he'd been most (in)active during July last year, when he "surfed for porn more than 177,000 times during office hours".
Quite remarkably, no marching orders were forthcoming for the outrage, but rather a demotion and a cut in wages of 20,000 yen (£80) a month - a figure which by our reckoning works out at just 0.096p for every page he's no doubt still tirelessly examining every four weeks. ®

Happy Fishnet Friday BTW!
I tend to agree with the Something Fishy commenter who writes:
Something Fishy

10,000 grumble pages a day is impossible. Unless the mark is downloading automatically he cannot be looking at so many pages. There is something, most likely something rather large, missing from this story. I think it has been made from the headline rather than the opposite.
If he spends ten hours a day in his office, 10,000 pages is only 3.6 seconds per page. Not long enough to wank to (unless he's accelerated his body like in Star Trek) and quite a number of those pages will take longer than that to appear on his screen.
I wonder what is really going on here. Some trick played on him by a rival worker with some computing skills maybe? Someone in the IT department making a colossal mistake? I wonder how they have calculated this? Did they accidentally include the whole council's records?
